Cheswardine Parish Council – Odd Jobs Contractor Required

Cheswardine Parish Council is looking to engage an odd jobs contractor to support with a variety of tasks within the parish.

The contractor will be engaged on a casual ad hoc basis, with most duties carried out as and when required. The one regular duty will be the emptying of parish council owned litter bins on a weekly basis.

Other tasks may include:

  • Grounds maintenance and gardening duties such as hedge trimming and verge tidying

  • Minor repairs and installations (for example noticeboards, benches, signage)

  • General odd jobs to support the upkeep of parish council land and facilities

About the role:

  • Hours will typically vary, averaging 1–2 hours per week depending on need and season.

  • Work can generally be completed at times to suit the contractor, although urgent tasks may occasionally need prompt attention.

  • Contractors should have access to their own tools and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Contractors must hold valid public liability insurance with minimum cover of £5 million.

  • Contractors will be engaged on a self-employed basis.

  • Work must be carried out safely, with risk assessments provided where appropriate.

Cheswardine Parish Council will consider expressions of interest and decide which contractor to progress with at the meeting scheduled for 16th September 2025.
